Mark Greliak

Friends…it is with great sadness and regret that we inform you that Mark Greliak, our dear friend and founder of the Polish Jazz Café in POSK passed away today 23 September 2015. He battled resolutely over the last few years to overcome his illness and during this difficult time continued to help with the running of the club and was often seen most Fridays and Saturdays enjoying the wonderful music and chatting to friends. He was a warm, lovely and friendly person who will be greatly missed and our deepest heartfelt sympathies and prayers go out to his family at this very sad time.

Jazz Café POSK is 8 years old!

In March 2015 the Polish Jazz Café POSK will be celebrating its 8th anniversary! Established in March 2007 in the basement of the Polish Social and Cultural Centre in Hammersmith, the Jazz Café quickly became a popular spot on London’s musical map, attracting both a Polish and international audience. London is regarded as a capital of European jazz and jazz music forms an important part of the vibrant and cosmpolitan cultural life in the capital.

Poles are proud that alongside well known and established jazz clubs such as Ronnie Scott, Vortex and 606 club, they have a venue for Polish Jazz which is growing in popularity and gaining a great reputation among both jazz artists and the public. Today in the club you can hear many foreign languages and watch leading jazz artists from Poland, Europe and further afield.

To celebrate the 8th anniversary of the club on Saturday 28th of March a special concert will be presented on stage at the Jazz Café featuring a leading saxophonist from Poland - Dariusz Herbasz. He will be accompanied by London musicians led by another sax virtuoso Kelvin Christianne and an all star rhythm section including Richard Busiakiewicz on piano, Alek Dankworth on double bass, Noel Joyce on drums and a rare guest appearance by vocalist Lesley Christiane.

This will be a great night of superb Jazz!

Our thanks to singer Peter Savizon for a brilliant Nat King Cole set...on top form as ever! And surprise guest…Bobby Davro who sang a few favourite Sinatra hits and had us all in fits of laughter through-out the evening. The band played a fantastic rendition of Sing Sing Sing which shook the very foundations of POSK! The charismatic Glenn Macnamara put in an appearance at the end and Glenn will be back with the boys on May 9th for our special Sinatra centenary concert. Thank you everyone for a truly brilliant and memorable evening!
