ben and chris biscoeevent_big_368Members of Way Out West, F-IRE and Chaos jazz collectives meet in a cross-generational band playing new original material from everyone in the band and one or two rare classics. Ben Davis from F-IRE Collective and Way Out West founder member Chris Biscoe have performed together extensively as a duo and in the Ben Davis Quartet. Ben is leader of Mercury Award nominated Basquiat Strings. Chaos Collective member Corrie Dick and Tom McCredie work regularly with Laura Jurd, while Liam Noble bands.is a musician of great originality who has enlivened a vast range of bands. Tonight joined by BBC New Generation Artist Laura Jurd on trumpet. Laura has contributed greatly to the development of the dynamic young Chaos Collective, and is swiftly establishing herself on the international jazz scene.

Biscoe is a saxophone virtuoso of great lyricism, passion, stamina and considerable versatility. He is steeped in the jazz tradition and his conception embraces everything from blues and gospel roots to free improvisation and jazz rock. Ian Carr, The Rough Guide to Jazz

There's no aimless filling from Noble; he prefers dense, angular finger-butts, distant salsa chord structures hazily definable at times, Monkish ringing apparent at others, with even some moments of Stan Tracey jabbing or Howard Riley bebop transmogrification.

Martin Longley, Birmingham Post

'Jurd embraces melody, harmony and groove as much as she provokes with blasts of dissonance and gutsy angularity. It's the combination of sweet and grinding, soothing and fiery that makes for such compelling listening.'
