Jo Harrop – The Art Of Song

NOMINATED FOR BEST VOCALIST, 2022 PARLIAMENTARY JAZZ AWARDS!

“The Art Of Song” celebrates some of the finest written songs from throughout the decades, spanning from jazz writers Cole Porter, Rogers & Hart, Duke Ellington, Billie Holiday, David Mann & Jobim, to Michel Legrand, Henry Mancini, Randy Newman, Tom Waits, Carole King, & Stevie Wonder, and many more in between.

Expect well-loved classics and rare gems, plus a few well-crafted originals for good measure. Played with a stellar band of jazz musicians, these arrangements are swinging, cool, hip and heartfelt.

Recently, Jo Harrop was nominated for two Parliamentary Jazz Awards, Vocalist of the Year and Album of the Year, 2022!

Her latest album, “The Heart Wants”, featuring bassist, Christian McBride, and pianist Jason Rebello, gained glowing 4 and 5 star reviews in several publications, including The Guardian, Jazzwise, The Mirror, All About Jazz USA & reached number 13 in the US Jazz album charts.

Tracks from the album have featured heavily on Jo Whiley’s radio 2 show, as well as Iggy Pop’s BBC Radio 6 programme, Judy Carmichaels Jazz Inspired, Sirius XM Watercolours, BBC Radio 3 & Jazz FM.

Jo Harrop was born in Durham and raised on a heady musical diet of the likes of Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Aretha Franklin. Jo cut her  teeth as a session singer, working with a host of iconic international artists. After moving to London, she quickly established herself as one of the most unmistakable voices in British jazz, performing everywhere from the Royal Albert Hall,  Ronnie Scotts, and the 606 club, in London, to national and international venues and festivals, in the UK, Paris, Italy, and Dubai.
