From the legendary Headhunters album through to Herbie’s late 70s work, the influence of Herbie and Headhunters on the history of Funk and Jazz Funk cannot be overstated. With a career spanning a quarter of a century to date, Xantoné Blacq is a Creative Force whose Music fuses Stevie Wonder’s soulfulness and vocal style with Herbie Hancock’s funky keyboard playing and Quincy Jones’ arranging brilliance.
That may explain why he has collaborated with artists including Amy Winehouse, Jason Rebello, Randy Brecker, Emeli Sandé, Lionel Loueke, Mark Ronson, Earth Wind & Fire, Laura Mvula, Jessie J, Nigel Kennedy and more. Xantoné has performed at leading Music events including, The Grammy Awards, Glastonbury, Montreux Jazz Festival, London Jazz Festival, Lollapalooza and in territories as varied as Brazil, China, Germany, The Caribbean, France, South Korea, the UK, Indonesia, the US and more.
TROY MILLER - drums: Troy Miller is a talented multi-instrumentalist, producer, songwriter and conductor who has performed with Amy Winehouse, Chaka Khan, Donna Summer, Laura Mvula, Macy Gray, George Benson and Mark Ronson, to name a few.
ED RICHES – guitar: Ed Riches is a prolific collaborator in Jazz and improvised music. He has performed for a multitude of years in live and recording projects with artists as varied as Ashley Henry, Soweto Kinch, Mega, Bilal and many more.
MATHEUS NOVA – bass: Matheus Nova is very popular in the Latin and Funk music circles and is recognised for his ability to ‘design’ astonishing bass lines working with artists including the Brazilian Samba Divas Elza Soares and Alcione, Ed Motta and Mayra Andrade.
